As the year draws to a close, the ZK space keeps up the pace
Dive into The Rollup and catch up on recent highlights from across the ZK ecosystem.
Gm ZK enthusiasts 📩,
Welcome back to The Rollup! As we eye the end of 2023, we know one thing for certain: the ZK ecosystem is not slowing down as the year draws to an end. Testnets and mainnets are still going live every month, and projects are already announcing their intentions for early 2024. Let’s dive in and explore the latest in ZK news across the ecosystem.
In this week’s edition of The Rollup:

📰 ZK in the news
📔 Zircuit announces the launch of its EVM-compatible zero-knowledge rollup testnet. The launch was celebrated at Devconnect with a multi-day event inviting devs and projects to contribute to the L2 testnet.
📕 Polygon launches Polygon ID Release 5. This update includes new features like an on-chain issuer and issuer node, as well as a credentials marketplace, enhancing the process of generating and verifying credentials within the Polygon ID network.
📗 OKX announces the development of a new layer 2 network, "X1", using Polygon's Chain Development Kit (CDK). The L2 network is set to go live in early 2024.
📘 zkLink unveils its layer 3 network “Nexus.” The protocol is designed to connect various Ethereum rollup solutions like zkSync, StarkNet, and Polygon zkEVM, addressing the issue of liquidity fragmentation in decentralized finance (DeFi).
📙 Fhenix publishes a white paper detailing its fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) rollup. The theoretical L2 network aims to enhance data confidentiality in smart contracts and enable private computation by maintaining data encryption during processing.
📚️ Nocturne’s launch on Ethereum introduces private accounts using stealth addresses. This development allows users to create secret spending and viewing keys for multiple meta-addresses, and is compatible with DeFi protocols that use output tokens.
